SSEF Award 2015 of Excellence
“Recycle” was the theme for the Steel Structure Education Foundation competition for 2015. Contestants were placed with the task to take existing steel structures and reuse them in a different light. Cable Cruise proposed to take old transmission towers and transform them into a cable car system.
In an age where technology and urbanization is steadily growing, objects from the present will soon become obsolete. Transmission towers will soon suffer this treatment as the use of underground cables are becoming a more popular. Cable Cruise proposes the idea of layering the cable car system on the towers, without having to disassemble the towers itself, only focusing on the raw essence.
